To compare the electron emissions from barium azide, barium oxide and strontium oxide, the electron optical patterns from the two specks of these materials observed simultaneousely. (1) After the observations of the brightness of the patterns from two different materials at the same temperature, it was known that the growth of the activation of barium oxide is most rapid while that of strontium oxide is most slow. (2) After the observation of the brightness of the patterns from the same material coated on the clean and on a thin oxide film of the core metal, it was known that a thin film of oxide of the core metal seems to exert a delaying effect on the activation of barium azide. (3) After the observations of the brightness of the patterns from the back side due to the diffusion of the material coated on the front side, it was known that the brightness of the pattern from back side emission corresponding to the specks coated on the clean and on a thin oxide film on the front surface is in contrast to that from the front side. A periodic changes of the brightness of the back side pattern were also observed. In conclusion, the present writer expresses his best thanks to Prof. J. Okubo for his kind guidance during the course of this investigation.
