Since the 1980's "The Micro-Macro Problem" has become one of the critical issues in sociology. Theorists in various fields of social study have presented their own ideas to solve this problem. Most of them agree on the point that we should regard the distinction between both levels not as substantive but as analytic. They also share the view that we shouldn't divide any theoretical approaches into exclusively micro- or exclusively macro-sociology. As is suggested in the slogan of an anthology on the problem: "From Reduction to Linkage", what we have to work on is to link "the micro" and "the macro" in some appropriate way. This paper tries to trace a series of efforts for the linkage made from the standpoint of a particular theoretical perspective: Interactionism. Although this approach has been categorized as a branch of the micro camp, some interactionists who disapprove the categorization claim that Interactionism has distinctive ideas for grasping "the macro". An examination of two of those ideas: "joint act" and "negotiated order" shows that Interactionists do have an analytical idea that may avoid the problem.
