The kinetics of order-disorder transitions are investigated based on the theory of stochastic processes a la Lax for two alloys AB and AB_3 having familiar b.c.c. and f.c.c. lattices, respectively. Treatments of AB_3 alloy are presented in the zeroth order and modified zeroth order approximations. A treatment of AB alloy is presented in the first order approximation. The model used has a simple two-level structure. Nevertheless, in the first moment calculations, our approach provides almost all the results so far obtained by the well known Bragg-Williams theory and in quasi-chemical theories. The second moment calculations provides characteristic fluctuations in the long-range order parameter. Some of well known thermodynamic and statistical mechanical relations are interpreted in terms of Markoffian two level transition processes. For example, a correspondence between the anomaly of specific heat and the fluctuations in the longrange parameter is established.
