The present study was designed to compare the new version with the old version of the Tanaka-Binet intelligence test(T-B test). Subjects were 32 preschool children, who were divided into two groups. One group was first tested by the old version of the T-B test(old test), and then re-tested by the new version of the test(new test). The other group was tested in the opposite order, with the new test first, then the old test. IQ scores were lower on the new test than on the old test, but the difference was not significant, and there was a very high correlation between IQ scores on the two tests. Neither did the old test and the new test differ significantly in time required (test time), but the test time was significantly shorter in the test administered second than in the first test. As to basal age and ceiling age, there were no differences, either. Comparing the content of the two tests, the old test was lower than the new test for the rate of correct responses in the 5th age-class, while the new test was much lower in the 6th age-class. And, the new test showed a smoother curve than the old test. The results suggest that the new test so corresponds to the old test in many indices containing IQ that there are no problems in using the new test. Moreover, these results suggest that the test items of the new test have more validity than those of the old test in children of today.
