Since people have limited opportunities for pastimes in Bajawur, evenings offer a great opportunity for hygienic instruction. When dinner is about to end, we tactfully lead the topic of the conversation toward our project. The host of the evening, an amiable man with the dignity of the elders and the title of "hajj sahib" (used to mark those who have accomplished the pilgrimage to Mecca), seemed to be quite content with having been able to invite foreign guests. Now is the time for our team member Mr. Mas'ud, an ex-medical student. He is one of the "sa-eed-s," a hereditary holy family that is universally known. "...In sum, we are engaged in this project in the name of Allah, the Unique and the Benevolent. Allah Akbar (God is Great)! Let us pray together."
