The concept of proto-industrialization has been arerued since Mendels' proposition. In the beginning of the argument, proto-industrialization was regarded as revealing the connection between population and economic growth, but recent research shows the connection is vague. This article investigates the factors of the development of industry. In mid-eighteenth century Britain, the pattern of foreign trade was changed drastically and this change was considered to be affected by proto-industrialization in Yorkshire. The proto-industrialization in Yorkshire is related to export-oriented economic growth.
