In 1995,the National Science Museum (NSM) was founded in Thailand. The NSM will have a function to deposit natural history specimens consisting of animals, plants, rocks and minerals of Thailand and neighbouring mainland countries. The reference collection, which has been stored in the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), will be transferred to this new museum in its entirety. We expect that the NSM will be the centre of the natural history research and education in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
