The typography workshop "htypo" (= hyper typography project) has been inaugurated in 1997. Because htypo is a completely internet-based workshop, students can participate online and don't have to be present at a given time or in a classroom for the lessons. By using the possibilities of the internet, htypo tries to find new way for "design education. At the time being more than 1000 students are registered in the workshop. In July 2000 htypo has started its German edition. As a result Hyperwerk, an Institute for "interactive media formation" in Switzerland has included htypo in its curriculum. When designing for the computer screen, programming becomes important. With htypo students can experience and practice the basics of programming. Many student works were born in this workshop. The CD-ROM introduces both, the htypo project as well as the students works.
