Shakespeare was the most famous Western writer who was widely accepted in the Japanese translators during the Meiji period. In this paper, I have studied four authors' six works, which were the translations of "Hamlet", written before Meiji 30th. The author and publish year of the translations are the followings; KANAGAKI Robun: Meiji 8th, 19th FUJITA Mokichi: Meiji 16th TSUBOUCHI Shoyo: Meiji 18th, 29th YAM ADA Bimyo: Meiji 21th My paper's aim is to clear that the form of a modern scenario has been born from their works. Each writer tried to express a new theme "Hamlet" into an old scenario form called Impon. They used the language system which is called the unification of the written and spoken language styles, which was in the process of formation.
