Resident conditions for staphylococci in our nasal cavities were researched. Microorganisms in the nasal cavities of students in our college were collected and cultured in selective media for staphylococci. S. aureus was distinguished from coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) by characteristic colony finding. The S. aureus was made sure by PS latex reagent, and the species of CNS were identified. Several species of staphylococci were seemed to coexist in the nasal cavities depending on internal and external environment. It was also suggested that colonization of staphylococci could be controlled artificially.
