No-reference (NR) image quality assessment models of JPEG and JPEG2000 images and also the discrimination and nondiscrimination algorithms of these two types of images are presented, that are easy to calculate and applicable to various image processing applications. The proposed models and algorithms are based on blockiness around the block boundary, average absolute difference between adjacent pixels within block, and zero crossing rate within block of the image. Subjective experiments were conducted on the two types of database and the results are used to train the models, that achieves good quality prediction performance.
