Orientation behaviors in polyvinylidene fluoride (form-I crystal) film under electric field are investigated by using the X-ray diffraction method. Remarkable changes in the profile for the (111) reflection have been observed at room temperature on applying a field of 150 MV/m, and a part of the intensity is recovered instantly on removal of the field. Changes in the profile and reorientation distribution show that the recoverable part of the orientation is not due to small crystallites but is due to crystallites that have suffered some structural change under the field.
