概要

• Intensities of the forward and backward luminescence of a spherical phosphor particle excited by a parallel light beam are calculated using geometrical optics. The forward luminescence prevails over backward luminescence when the particle intensely absorbs excitation light and absorption of luminescence is negligible. Total light output and output efficiency are also calculated.
