Trans fractions in molecular chains of ethylene-propylene random copolymer (EPRC) and γ-ray irradiated polyethylene (PE) have been estimated from the observed X-ray scattering curves using our recently proposed method, in which the observed intensity curves are compared with a simulated curve for amorphotized PE. The solid state intrachain order of these materials increases with decreasing temperature in the same manner as in an isolated state. The interchain order also increases at -14O℃, compared with the value at room temperature for EPRC but there is no detectable change in the case of irradiated PE. The latter seems to be due to the interchain cross-linkings.
