A novel linearization method for the scattering acoustic wave equation based on the holographic backward propagation prior to the Rytov approximation transform is described. The technique is applied to approximate scattered acoustic wave field analysis for arbitrary weak scattering inhomogeneous objects based on the superposition principle. As a simulation test examination, wave fields scattered from a concentric double cylinder are calculated based on the summation of the backward propagation Rytov data for the outer and inner element cylinders. Compared with the results calculated by the rigorous analytical formula for the concentric double cylinder, the effectiveness of the present technique is verified to be satisfactory.
