An electron beam with an energy of 〜 9 keV and a current of 〜 6 A was injected into a mirror-trapped plasma at various angles up to 〜 20°, which is a loss-cone angle, along the magnetic field line from one end. The 20° oblique injection effectively induces diamagnetism at the mirror cell as compared with the parallel injection, but the potential is insensitive to the injection angle. The electron beam oblique injection is useful in forming a thermal barrier with ECRH.
