Photorefractive GaAs has attractive features of fast response times and operation at near infrared wavelengths. This has opened new research opportunities which can lead to valuable applications in optical computing and image processing. This paper presents recent experimental results on matrix-vector multiiplication and multiple four-wave mixing using GaAs. A combination of these two configurations provides potential architectures to build optical interconnects and neural network modules.
