A new electron acceleration mechanism of the inverse synchrotron radiation which was proposed in a paper (Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. 28 (1989) L704) is reexamined in order to show that an electron can be accelerated well by a realistic Gaussian-pulse electromagnetic wave. Numerical analyses and particle simulations were performed in addition to the simple analyses which present the scaling law for the acceleration energy and the expression for the optimal applied weak static magnetic field of this system.
