This paper describes the application of a Co-based amorphous alloy flake to a common-mode noise filter. Saturation magnetization and relative permeability are measured to be 7000 G and 1150, respectively. The amorphous flake exhibits high loss characteristics; the resistance of a 0.0065 cm^3 amorphous flake increases from 0.14 Ω at 1 MHz to 2.2 Ω at 1 GHz as the frequency is increased. It is confirmed that a filter of 1/7 the volume of a conventional filter (ferrite core) exhibits the same noise attenuation in the 10 MHz〜1 GHz frequency range.
