V_p×B Acceleration Experiments Using Disk-Loaded Accelerator

The v_p×B linear electron accelerator applied to the conventional disk-loaded accelerator has been demonstrated. An energy gain of 5.4 keV for electrons is observed from an incident energy of 42 keV in a 0.5 m accelerator, when an external magnetic field of 1.1 G is applied. The energy gain is proportional to B^<1.5> until the electrons are detrapped from the wave trough. The results of experiments and theories are in fairly good agreement.
