A method is developed to evaluate the magnitude of the relaxation time when impurity-vacancy (IV) dipole is either frozen-in in the crystalline lattice or ceases to be polarized after the application of the electric field. Relaxation time of frozen-in IV dipoles is evaluated in NaCl, KCl, KBr, KI, AgCl, CaF_2, SrF_2, SrCl_2, CdF_2 and BaF_2 systems. It is found that the evaluated relaxation time is fixed for a particular host lattice and is independent of the dopants.
