Elastooptic and Electrooptic Properties of GaAs

The spectral dispersions of the elastooptic and the linear electrooptic coefficients of GaAs in the wavelength region λ_0=1.06-1.50 μm have been measured accurately. In this wavelength region, the elastooptic coefficients, p_<11>, p_<12>, and p_<44>, range from -0.02 to -0.18, while the linear electrooptic coefficients, r^T_<41> and r^S_<41>, range from -1.17×10^<-12> m/V to -1.53×10^<-12>m/V. The Faust-Henry coefficient C of GaAs (n≲10^<16>cm^<-3>) at λ_0=1.06 μm has been determined as -0.51 from Raman scattering measurements.
