The superconducting transition of indium is investigated to estimate the dependence of its transition temperature on the detection technique. The transition is detected by two techniques simultaneously using a common SQUID. The Meissner effect is directly detected by one technique, and the mutual inductance is detected by the other. The transition temperature determined by the former technique is found to be 0.3 mK higher than that determined by the latter. It is concluded that the detection technique must be specified in order to obtain superconducting fixed points with a reproducibility of 0.1 mK.
