The electric field integral equations (EFIE) are formulated for the induced surface current, and hence, for the radar cross-section (RCS) of a circular metallic thin disk under plane electromagnetic wave illumination. The equations are then solved by the entire domain Galerkin's method with polynomial basis functions. These functions are taken to be the cartesian product of two Lagrangian interpolation polynomials, one interpolative radially and the other azimuthally. A special treatment for the singularity of the resulting matrix elements is developed. With the present new technique, the RCS at any aspect angle is easily obtained for different disk sizes, for any direction and any polarization of the incident wave, and for both the monostatic and bistatic scattering cases. Numerical results are shown to give good agreement with those obtained by other investigators.
