Propagation Characteristics in 70 GHz Solid-Plasma Waveguide Containing n-InSb Slab with Light Irradiation

The transmission characteristics of a 70 GHz transversely magnetized partially filled solid-plasma waveguide can be varied by irradiating the plasma material with a semiconductor laser. The experimental results are explained by the increase in the slow surface wave resonant magnetic field in the waveguide. These findings indicate the possibility of controlling the propagation characteristics of the slow surface wave in the solid-plasma waveguide by means of optical injection.
