Zinc was evaporated in a top-heating furnace filled with helium or argon gas and the density of vaporized zinc atoms was measured by atomic absorption spectroscopy. The density of zinc monomers does not depend greatly on the helium gas pressure in the range of 1.33×10^2-1.33×10^4 Pa, and it does not change if the furnace is filled with argon gas of 1.33×10^3 Pa. However, its density depends on the temperature in the furnace. The evaporation rate increases with decreasing gas pressure.
