In FIR spectrometry, an interference low-pass filter is used to cut the harmonics of a Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI). The interference low-pass filter has sharp cutoff characteristics, but has leakage at higher harmonics of the cuton frequency. The appropriate sized glass bead filter can suppress this leakage. The combined use of an interference filter and a glass bead filter gives good performance in FIR spectrometry.
