The effect of magnetic field on the electric resistivity transition of Ag-sheathed (Bi, Pb)_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_y tapes in magnetic fields was studied. The transition can be described by the flux creep model, in which the activation energy depends on the temperature, magnetic field and current density. The results show that the activation energy is proportional to the square root of the intensity of the magnetic field (∝ H^<-1/2>). It is also clarifled that the critical current densitles are controlled by a flux creep mechanism rather than a flux flow model above 40 K.
