A time-varying, single-sinusoidal-grating coded aperture which is translated between the radiative source plane and the detector plane is discussed. To the detector, the aperture behaves as a variable frequency grating that scans the object over a two-dimensional frequency domain by changing its orientation and position. The summation filter back-projection algorithm has been used to reconstruct the image. The object letter "E" was recon-structed successfully. The tomographic imaging capabilities of this system are also discussed.
