Tensile tests at various temperatures and strain rates have been carried out on palladium-hydrogen alloys. Hardening in the α-phase alloys has been measured over the temperature range -78 to +130℃ and the result was explained by the chemical interaction between dislocations and solute atoms. Existence of Cottrell effect in the alloy was not evident enough for the hardening to be explained. At liquid nitrogen temperature the Portevin-LeChatelier phenomena were observed. These phenomena were not explained by the strain aging mechanism. Some other interesting results are also reported.
