The local dependence of the rise time of the emissive line intensities of Ne in a cylindrical hollow cathode has been measured as a step toward studying the mechanism of emission. Several new interesting results were observed: In a special range of gas pressure, the temporal change of the intensities at the central axis portion shows a clear initial peak enhancement and then a decrease to the stationary state. The rise time of the intensity at the central axis portion is always a few microseconds faster than the edge portion. The precision of the time resolution of our apparatus is qualitatively discussed.
