• The design of two E_<010> cavity resonators for measuring the complex dielectric constant of solids and liquids in the Microwave region (λ=10 cm) is described. Interference of unwanted modes is avoided by taking 2a/l slightly greater than one (1.276). For 2a/l=1.46, the Q of the cavity is reduced and in-accuracy is introduced in the measurement of tan δ. The experimental resonant frequencies of the cavities are in close agreement with the theoretical value. Methods of improving the quality factor of the resonator have been suggested.
