Anisotropy of the critical current density and the flux jump are studied experimentally by the measurement of the hysteresis losses in Nb-Ti-Zr wires. The axial critical current density determined from the hysteresis loss corresponds to that obtained from direct measurement by resistive transition, but the circular critical current density dces not. The magnetic field dependence of the critical current density differs in both cases. Anisotropy of the flux jump is also observed. These features can be explained as due to a highly anisotropic defect structure introduced in the wire drawing.
