A practical method to eliminate the instrumental width effects from the observed complex profiles subject to noises, when the instrument is slightly misaligned is presented. The optimum conditions are empirically given for this simple method which is based on the direct calculation of the inverse matrix from the rewritten equation of the convolution equation in accordance with the characteristic periodicity, symmetry and finite value of the instrumental function. The technique is free of divergence and is applicable to many data processing in a short time. The accuracy of this method is found to be within a few percent for the profiles of the D lines of sodium, especially for the absorption coefficient profiles. A precise determination of the atomic density is found to be possible within 1%.
