Foils of deformed Fe-5.3 at% Si alloy containing 0.0135 at% C and 0.0072 at% N have been heated up to 600℃ in a high voltage electron microscope operating below or above the threshold voltage for producing Frenkel defects in a iron, and the annealing behavior of screw dislocations and prismatic loops due to deformation has been observed in situ. Two annealing stages of the loops have been found; sudden decrease in the loop density resulting from self diffusion above 40O℃, following gradual annihilation above 250℃. Prolonged irradiation with 530 keV electrons at l80℃ eliminates the lower temperature stage. The screw dislocation arrangements are extremely stable up to 450℃ where the frictional stress fades away with the aid of self diffusion. Natures of the stages are discussed.
