Some Properties of Aligned MHD Flows

The flow considered is steady; the magnetic lines are everywhere parallel to the streamlines and the fluid is infinitely conducting and non-viscous. If the density is constant along each individual streamline, then any flow field satisfying the flow equations is a member of an infinite group of flow fields sharing the same streamlines. If one of the four scalar quantities, the speed V, the density ρ, the pressure p and the speed of sound c, is constant along each streamline in a plane flow then the other three, together with the vorticity ω, are also constant along each streamline; the streamlines are either concentric circles or parallel straight lines. Converses are also true.
