Calculations are carried out on the internal flux-density distribution and the upper limit of the internal current density of a homogeneous type-II superconductor in a longitudinal field. The characteristics of the critical transport current obtained by use of the calculated results display a good coincidence with those of the experimentally observed critical current. It is emphasized that such a superconductor in longitudinal field will become important in engineering field for its capability of transporting fairly large alternating current stably and with negligible power dissipation.
