The tensile tests with constant stress or constant strain rate and the stress relaxation tests have been carried out on single crystal plates of 99.999% pure tin. In the tensile tests specimens are stretched at high speed, then unloaded or kept under constant stress for several minutes and stretched again at low speed. In these tests the effect of recovery on the final stage deformation is studied. The results indicate that the recovery process proceeds more rapidly under larger constant stresses or at higher temreratures. A model on the plastic deformation is postulated and applied to various experimental conditions. The calculation agrees well with the measurements.
