The eccentricity dependence of the torque in non-coaxial flow with appreciable curvature is discussed on the basis of Jeffery's solution and is investigated experimentally. The torctue L_s exerted by the fluid on one of the cylinders when the other cylinder rotating varies approximately as L_s∝1-(e/δ)^2, where e/δ denotes the eccentric dislocation (e) divided by the difference (δ) of radii of two cylinders. On the contrary, the torque L_r to be applied on the rotating cylinder varies approximately as L_r∝1+2(e/δ)^2 ×(1-3/4 δ/a), where a is the radius of the inner cylinder and δ/a, stands for the curvature of flow. Therefore the curvature influences little on the torque L_s although it influences appreciably on the torque L_r. The observational so shows nearly the same features. The disagreement between the calculation and the observation turns out to be the end effect.
