High-precision nozzles whose machining error is less than ±1 μm with a mirror finish were calibrated at pressures up to 0.9 MPa against other high-precision nozzles connected in series at the downstream location. When the Reynolds numbers of all the nozzles were smaller than (10)^6,the mass flowrates obtained from the upstream and downstream nozzles agreed with each other by ±0.05%. By virtue of the lower pressure at the downstream nozzles in series connections, the boundary layer transition occurred in the upstream nozzle could be measured by the downstream nozzles accompanied with the laminar boundary layer. After estimating the tendency of the decrease of the discharge coefficient of an upstream nozzle caused by the transition, errors caused by the transition in the downstream nozzles at higher Reynolds number were corrected applying the same tendency. Finally, the decrease of the discharge coefficient caused by the boundary layer transition was clearly detected.
