In Britain, Germany and several other countries, a number of vessels with electric propulsion have recently been built. Also in Japan, it is time to consider about the electric propulsion of all kinds of vessels, especially of the trawlers, fishers, dredgers and etc.Generally, we adopt Ward Leonard for D.C.system and either synchronous or asynchronous motor system by cycle-change for A.C. system. But the author lately invented the new method of speed control for the wound rotor motor. This method can be applied to the electric propulsion motor of all kinds of vessels and other large auxiliary motors installed in all ships, because it is very economical, thinking from the point of its initial cost and fuel consumption, also it permits smooth controlling of speed in wide range.In this treatiese, I have introduced the new system and the successful results of the experiments for this new method.
