The author presented the analytical method of steady viscous flow around a highly skewed propeller in uniform flow with the main object of the design rationalization of a low noise propeller. In order to advance further this analytical method and to apply effectively it to the propeller designs, it is one of the necessary subjects to enable to estimate incipient cavitation numbers of tip vortex cavitation. Nevertheless, in the present circumstances there is no way to evaluate only theoretically a low noise propeller with incipient numbers of a tip vortex cavitation, so that the experimental methods or the semi-empirical methods are utilized exclusively. This paper describes the development of the method to enable to estimate incipient cavitation numbers of tip vortex cavitation with the results of the computation of the steady viscous flow around a propeller, which reflect the strategies to enable to resolve tip vortex of a propeller. Furthermore the cavitation tests were conducted using several geometrically various models of highly skewed propeller. The effectiveness and limitation are described through the verification with the experimental data.
