In the first part of the following paper, which is the succession to the preceding one^<(1)>, the authors study mathematically the wave resistance of a spheroid and an ellipsoid submerged in a shallow sea. Numerical calculations are made for a prolate spheroid, and the results are compared with those of a sphere. In the second part of the paper they express in new formula the wave resistance of a ship of so-called Michell's type and that of a skimming boat, both in a shallow sea ; and finally they propose an interpolation formula of the wave resistance for the case of finite depth of water, which is applicable to all bodies floating or submerged. These formulae correspond to those for infinite depth that have been already obtained by Michell, Havelock, and Hogner respectively. Applying the formula to some models of mathematical lines, the authors have worked out numerical calculations for the cases of h/L=0.10,0.14,0.20,0.30 (h=water depth, L=ship length), and see that their theory gives the results quite similar to the experimental ones, remembering that the latter include so-called 'restricted-water effects'rather than the pure 'shallow-water effects'when the midship sectional area of the model is not smaller about 2 per cent of the cross-sectional area of the water way.
