Inspections play an import role in keeping the safety of large structures above a minimum level. There are in the literature several proposals to use past inspection results to update the reliability of structures by means of Bayesian approaches. Here a Bayesian updating scheme is incorporated to a Cellular Automata simulation in order to model surveyors' learning process during an inspection so that if a defective structural element is found, other similar elements are investigated. The resultant behavior is non-linear, and it was found that the effect of learning should not be left out in inspection modeling studies.
