Energy resources of the 21st century are required to be economical, safe and environmentally acceptable. From these points of view, attractive characteristics of D-^3He fueled fusion which mitigates engineering problems attributed to 14MeV neutrons is presented. Requirements are discussed in order to develop a D-^3He fusion commercial reactor, and are summarized as (1) 10^<21>/sec・m^3 of the confinement perameter, (2) 80keV of plasma temperature, (3) High β value of the plasma, and (4) accessibility of direct energy converters.
