• The optimistic predictions for the Spherical Torus(Spherical Tokamak)have been verified in a range of small devices world-wide. Although some equilibrium features(e.g. the naturally large elongation)were fully expected, the ST appears to have substantially improved energy confinement, beta exceeding the Troyon scaling, and a resilience to the major disruption. These exploratory experiments have produced great interest in the ST concept.
