Drymoglossum piloselloides PRESL. is one of the ferns which most generally and widely distributed in India (mainly southern part) Ceylon, Malaya, Java, Philippines, Cochin-china and Polynesia^<1)&2)>. In the year 1927, I have found a variety of the same species, whose fertile fronds divided like stag-horn, in Johore state and Singapore island. Drymoglossum piloselloides PRESL. var. platycerioides TERUYA var. nov. Rhizome and all other habits are as type, but some sterile fronds near the end of stem are abnormally elongated and spathulated, (figs. 9-10, c-d) such fronds are generally larger than the usu alone, measure 4.2-5.3 cm. long, 1.5-1.6 cm. wide at the midst. Most of fertile fronds are divided as shown in the figures 1,7 and 8, among them one can find also general forms of fertile one on the same plant (figs. 3, a-b). But these forms rather few in number, even in these linear forms as shown in figs. 2-3, e, f, g & 4-5. The length of general form of fertile one varies 5-11.5 cm. and 4.5-9 mm. width, but sometime reaches 11 mm. wide. Those measures are about the same to that given by BEDDOME^<2)> and the so-called stag-horned form of fertile fronds are generally longer than the former, having mean 12.82 cm. long (min. 8.7 cm., max. 15 cm.) measureing of ten fronds form Johore and 11 cm. long (min. 9.2 cm., max. 12.2 cm.) of fifteen fronds from Singapore and the width usually 0.5-0.8 cm., but sometime reaches 1.2 cm. Stipes 1- 1.5 mm. long in sterile fronds and 5-10 mm. long in fertile one. the number of branches devided in the fertile fronds is very irregular, some are dichotomous (figs. 6-7), but almost all of others have three to seven branches (figs. 1 & 8) and the dimension of the branches at their end reach five to seven cm. About the scale^<3)> covered the rhizome, I can not agree neither with BEDDOME^<2)> nor WARBUERG.^<4)> The former figured the scales as diamond shape and the latter's figure shows apparently white hairly one, but, in my observation, the scales on the rhizome are rather oblong irregular stellate having transrucent mebranous margine with dark brown centre as indicated in fig. II. (h, i on old and j, k on young rhizome) The colour is grayish white with light brown centre on the quite young rhizome and changes darker gradually when old. Nom. Jap. Bikaku-Mamezuta. Hab.
