The spatial frequency characteristic called the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) about the human visual system has been studied psychophysically. From the MTF, we can know the relationship between the spatial frequency of grating pattern and the contrast sensitivity. In this paper, it is intend to clearly that the relationship between the architectural texture on the surface of structures and the suitable sight distance in the outdoor using the MTF. In this study, the conditions of viewing distance and luminance are different from those on the measurements for the MTF. The psychophysical measurements of contrast threshold are performed in the outdoor. And the results the reduction coefficient is proposed for MTF.
