Temperature-dependent inhibitive actions of a,a'-dipyridyl and cycloheximide on the senescence of maize leaves were studied. a,a'-Dipyridyl effectively inhibited the loss of chlorophyll await℃ but not at 35℃. Cycloheximide was highly effective in preserving chlorophyll at both of 25 and 35℃. Spectral analysis of senescent leaves at 35℃ in a,a'-dipyridyl showed simultaneous bleaching the carotenoid and chlorophyll.
