This is a study of art theory of Zeami, through which I intend to search for a clew to explain the problem of "MYO" (sc. exquisiteness, wonder, mystery, mastership, etc.) of Japanese traditional arts. Zeami, in his secret writings on the practice of NO-play, emphasizes the extreme importance of "SHOSHIN" (sc. beginner, beginner's mind, beginning, etc.). His SHOSHIN is what a player must keep constantly throughout his whole life curriculum aiming to be a real ultimate Master. Then, making clear this unique meaning and structure of SHOSHIN in his theory, we find the state of SHOSHIN have a paradoxically close and deep relation with MYO.
